When purchasing something like organic bedding, you want to take care of it as best as you can.  Not only are you buying something that’s environmentally sound, but you’re making an investment in something that will last for years.  Here are some easy-to-remember facts when it comes to cleaning organic sheets:

1. If you can, hand wash organic sheets.  This can be done either in a bathtub or a larger basin.

2. If you must use a washing machine, set it to a gentle cycle.

3. Whether you’re hand washing or using a machine, it would be best to use scent-free, organic detergent.  This is available in most stores.

4. Hang dry your sheets as the colors will not fade so rapidly, as opposed to putting them through the dryer every time you wash them.

Sleeping is something we must all do every night. Well most of us anyway. Vampires don’t get to sleep during the night, but humans do. That is why we must make sure we create the most comfortable beds possible for ourselves.

One way to do this is to invest in an organic sheet. The sheets are made from all-natural materials and are non-toxic. In addition to being manufactured without chemicals, they are amazingly comfortable. Most people who use organic sheets say they have never slept better!

My Absolute Favorite Thing

bamboobathrobes-bambooandorganiclinens.jpgMy favorite thing to do when I get home from work is to take a hot bubble bath. As soon as I walk in the door, I begin running the bath water. The next thing I do is pick out the bubble bath I will use that day. After adding a liberal amount of suds, I slip into the warm water and open my favorite book.

I usually read for a good while before I get out. I hate being cold, so before I get into the tub I put my bamboo bath robe into the dryer to warm it up. Bamboo bath robes are so comfortable. They are also natural and don’t contain any toxic chemicals.

Organic textiles represent a return to safe and sustainable practices. It is grown with natural fertilizers and is free from toxic chemicals.
Organic farmers rely on crop rotation to replenish and maintain soil fertility. Mechanical cultivation and botanical or biological means are used to control pests and weeds.

A field must be pesticide-free for at least three years to be certified organic, and the cotton must be processed according to international organic standards. The standards also set strict guidelines for transportation and storage to avoid cross-contamination. In the U.S., cotton labeled as organic has to be certified by an independent agency recognized by the USDA’s National Organic Program.
